Moving is such a great opportunity to declutter! Sometimes it takes packing up everything in a truck {or 2} to realize how much stuff you have that you don’t really need.

I was stunned at how many coupons and receipts had piled up. I’m getting ready for a move soon so I’m excited to declutter and hopefully make some extra cash to finance our move.

Aww, thanks Kristen. My husband took a while to get used to the system….and he still sometimes has receipts still tucked away in his wallet at the end of the month – but we are now way more up to date than we used to be! He used to “surprise” me with extra purchases at the end of the month that I didn’t know we had made. He’s actually been entering the receipts into our spreadsheet on his own lately which is great!

And I love the idea of storing all my receipts in a jar until they are filed. Maybe then I could keep my husband’s receipts organized too if we were always putting them in the same place! Simple, yet brilliant. It’s yet another reason I love reading your blog! 🙂

I love the tip about cleaning out the wallet and the purse. Small task to get in the cleaning mindset. Easy to start and finish quickly! We have been using the snowball method for over a year and wow, we have cut some serious debt! We have also found helpful ways to save on our cell phone bill. It is so rewarding to cut down on monthly bills! Thanks for the great post!

I’m always amazed at how much Joseph has stuffed in his wallet when he cleans it out! It’s like he somehow fits a filing cabinet worth of receipts jammed together into a bi-fold. 🙂

It feels much better to get all the clutter out. That is also a great tip around the habit of checking your credit score at least once a year. It’s free, so there really isn’t any reason not to!

This post is so helpful. You have to declutter your wallet, organize your finances, and regroup in order to make sure you’re organized enough to follow through with your financial goals. It’s something I do at least annually (along with getting my credit reports and score).
